dEUS: "So, after all the interviews you've been given over the years..."

Colin: "Hmm."

dEUS: "...what does it feel like to be featured in a dEUS podcast interview?"

Colin: "It's quite exciting, as I was saying... I think I was saying to the singer, I've just come from home and I'd just sorted out my CDs and I'd done the 'D's, and I sorted out all my dEUS CDs. So, that I should meet the band two days later was very exciting."

dEUS: "And you threw out all the rest and gave it to Oxfam, I heard?"

Colin: "Yeah, that's where all the other... Not dEUS. The other bands who... I can't remember what they were called."

dEUS: "Do you do that often, giving to a charity?"

Colin: "Yeah, yeah."

dEUS: "Just personal or the band..."

Colin: "That's right. Well, my missus went and did it, rather, I didn't go and do it, but um.. Yeah, lots of Brit Pop CDs, unsurprisingly, so... And dodgy electronic records I really shouldn't have bought, but they looked pretty."

dEUS: "Well, you bought them, it's not like you'd been given them."

Colin: "Hmm."

dEUS: "Yeah, so... What about Radiohead? You've started just like, what, a month ago?"

Colin: "That's right, back on the road again. We just did an American tour for all of June. May, June. And the UK Europe shows in May. And then we're doing these festivals, and then we're gonna record the album up to Christmas. And then we're gonna have Christmas. And that's the plan."

dEUS: "And what about, what about Thom, is he gonna tour with his solo thing or... it just..."

Colin: "Uh, I don't know, I don't know. Well, I don't know, that's an interesting thing to think about..."

dEUS: "You never asked him..."

Colin: "No... I don't know! I don't know how... like playing the songs live. I mean, what would be great is if we could somehow like play them in the set maybe. So that could be interesting."

dEUS: "What about you? Are you busy with something else when you're not on tour..."

Colin: "When I'm not on tour I'm busy with the family and the dogs, and that's it really."

dEUS: "How many dogs have you got?"

Colin: "Two dogs."

dEUS: "Awhh! How many kids have you got?"

Colin: "Um, two kids."

dEUS: "It makes sense!"

Colin: "One wife, not two wives."

dEUS: "(laughs) I don't know..."

Colin: "That would be... outside of the state of Utah would be..."

dEUS: "So we..."

Colin: "...illegal."

dEUS: "...are in Budapest."

Colin: "We are! "

dEUS: "Have you played Budapest before?"

Colin: "No, this is only my second time in a former Eastern Block country."

dEUS: "And you've never played the Eastern Block before it collapsed."

Colin: "No, we played... no, we never did, and it's... and I don't know anything... the only thing I know about Hungary is, is, is, is, is uh, The Museum of Ethnography, and the beginning of the First World War... and I don't know anything else about Hungary."

dEUS: "You know about the '68 revolution and all that..."

Colin: "Yes... but I mean, in England, English people don't really study European History very oft... much, so much."

dEUS: "You mean it?"

Colin: "Well..."

dEUS: "You're part of it!"

Colin: "Well, you know, but English people really don't feel like they are a part of Europe, do they, you know."

dEUS: "I know, I know, I know, I know... 'It's always been...' and all that. Going back to dEUS..."

Colin: "Yeah, de... Of course! All roads do!"

dEUS: "No. No. All about you, in fact!"

Colin: "dEUS!"

dEUS: "Which is your favourite album?"

Colin: "Oh God."

dEUS: "You forgot it?"

Colin: "I can't remember the titles!"

dEUS: "Involved with the Scene? Worst Case Scenario?"

Colin: "No, it's Worst Case Scenario..."

dEUS: "The first one."

Colin: "...and then there's another one... there's a second one, done by that, like, famous old producer, whose name I forget."

dEUS: "Eric Drew Feldman?"

Colin: "Yeah, probably him, yeah."

dEUS: "That was In a Bar Under the Sea."

Colin: "There's some great stuff on there, and like, 'Last Crash' or something..."

dEUS: "The Ideal Crash"

Colin: "Yeah, that was cool. And around then that's when we were really into it, that was really cool. Some of us went to see dEUS several times when they were playing in the UK and stuff, and loved it. Yeah, great band."

dEUS: " You never actually shared the same stage together?"

Colin: "I don't think so. No, no... We didn't. And you know, when you tour a lot you miss what you want to see anyways. So... But you know, like today, I mean, I didn't even know dEUS were playing. Otherwise I'd have come earlier."

dEUS: "What did you buy the last..."

Colin: "What records? What did I buy?"

dEUS: "Yeah, or what movie or whatever. Books."

Colin: "Uhh..."

dEUS: "Or..."

Colin: "Rich Dawkins Selfish Gene, and William Faulkner Absalom, Absalom!, and uh, just finished some other stuff, I can't remember... and that's it! Oh, and I'm particularly enjoying Pocket Revolution, by this band called dEUS."

dEUS: "Never heard of them!"

Colin: "That's what I'm listening to at the moment... It's called, that's right, yeah, I read that right. Yeah, so, that's what I'm really enjoying right now. Wicked."

dEUS: "So, for how long have you been playing bass with the Radiohead..."

Colin: "We were a school band!"

dEUS: "Yeah."

Colin: "We were a high school band!"

dEUS: "So that's what, twenty years ago?"

Colin: "Oh, it was about twenty something years ago."

dEUS: "And what's the favourite band to tour with?"

Colin: "Who have we toured with that we really liked... well, lots of people treated us very nicely, so... they've all been good, you know? R.E.M... Alanis Morissette, or Alan Morris... as, uh...

dEUS: "Ala neeis sey morris..."

Colin: "She was cool!, Yeah, not Morrissey, we haven't played with him. They've been two good ones. But they've all been, all had their own sort of particular qualities. We should have toured with you!"

dEUS: "Well uh, we can still do it if you feel like it."

Colin: "Well, yeah, we should check it out. I'd like to tour with Arcade Fire. Have you seen them?"

dEUS: "Absolutely."

Colin: "They're kind of similar to you in a way. In a kind of way, in that sort of carnivally sort of madness thing going on with melody."

dEUS: "Oh totally, yeah."

Colin: "They're really nice people as well. They're fucking really nice people."

dEUS: "Oh, oh, really are."

Colin: "We saw them in Montreal, and they came to both shows, and it was brilliant! I laughed so much talking to them, they're brilliant people."

dEUS: "So out of the Radio-Set..."

Colin: "Hmm??"

dEUS: "Radiohead Set. Which songs are you playing..."

Colin: "At the moment we're playing some new ones from the next record..."

dEUS: "...do you prefer to play. What are you favourites? What are the most instinctual..."

Colin: "I don't... I like them all! I mean, I don't... it sounds boring. I like, um... what do I like at the moment, ehhh... I don't know, new ones I guess, like '15 Step'... 'Arpeggi'. A song called 'Arpeggi'."

dEUS: "Absolutely."

Colin: "Which is a beautiful song."

dEUS: "It is."

Colin: "Yeah. Do you know that song?"

dEUS: "Yeah I know, yeah."

Colin: "It's lovely, 'Your eyes, they turned me. The bottom of the ocean... the little fishes...' It's a beautiful song! It's beautiful 'cause it's a mel... so melodic and beautiful, and so desolate and sad, but so uplifting and beautiful at the same time. That's why I like... Why, dEUS - again - has that quality at times as well!"

dEUS: "Yeah."

Colin: "As something that's just sort of very beautiful, but..."

dEUS: "It stays, it sticks."

Colin: "It's gone through a sort of traumatic state, but, it sort of had beauty to it as well. Yeah. That's cool!"

dEUS: "Have you heard it?"

Colin: "No, not yet. Very excited."

dEUS: "Yeah."

Colin: "Is that alright?"

dEUS: "Yeah, sure, of course."

Colin: "Thank you, that's very kind!"

dEUS: "No problem."

Colin: "Thank you. Ok, cool."

dEUS: "Thank you, Colin!"

Colin: "Is that alright, this?"

dEUS: "Yes, it's alright..."

Colin: "Yeah, but I'm glad you came and watched the show."

dEUS: "Of course! I look forward to seeing you, I haven't seen you since La Luna in Brussels, that was twelve years ago!"

Colin: "No way! You were twelve years old."

dEUS: "No! No! That was twelve years... I was nine..."
