Colin: You know, we're closer to being a Bristol band than a London band. You know a band called Tricky, or Massive Attack, or?

Interviewer: Yeah, Portishead.

Colin: Yeah. You know, they're all being lumped together, but they all do very quite different things, Strangelove and stuff.

Thom: Tricky's the one though. [makes "OK" sign]

Colin: Tricky's your favorite, yeah?

Thom: Um, but um...

Interviewer: But why do- in what aspect do you think the kinship is, this particular...?

Thom: Well, no, it's just the fact that, that the thing about the Bristol bands, really, was that they came out of the woodwork. They were just... there. They just came out with brilliant records, and everyone just went, [gasp]. And, uh, maybe that's going to happen to us? Maybe not! But um, I think that the one advantage we have is that we keep away from other bands! [laughs]

Colin: Yeah, you keep away from other bands! [laughs]

Thom: Well, I keep away from other bands. It helps me.

Colin: I'm a groupie, I love other bands!

Thom: Yeah, he likes talking to other people. I don't like it.
